Alicia Nukuri is a 25-year-old model and student from Burundi, currently dazzling on the stage of Top Model Lesotho 2025. Born in Bujumbura, Alicia’s journey has been nothing short of global. She left Burundi at the age of 11 and has since lived in various countries, including Burkina Faso and Moldova, immersing herself in different cultures and experiences that have shaped her into the multi-faceted woman she is today. Now based in Pretoria, South Africa, Alicia is ready to make her mark on the international fashion scene.
So, why Top Model Lesotho 2025? For Alicia, it’s all about growth. “Top Model Lesotho provides an incredible platform to showcase one’s talents and cultural pride to the world,” she says. For her, this competition is a golden opportunity to shine a light on Burundi and introduce its rich culture to the Southern African region. For Alicia, fashion and beauty are more than just external expressions—they are vital components of one’s education. “They help you learn how to take care of yourself, present yourself, and grow as an individual,” she reflects. These elements are essential parts of her daily life, representing an ongoing journey of self-care, self-expression, and personal development.
However, like any journey, it hasn’t been without its challenges. As a young talent navigating the complexities of the fashion and beauty industry, Alicia has encountered struggles, particularly with people who lack genuine passion and are only interested in exploiting others. Yet, she remains resolute: “I find my motivation in music,” she shares. “Music lifts my spirits, especially during tough times when the industry challenges my confidence.”
Despite her rising career, Alicia stays grounded. A student at heart, her main focus is to complete her studies while continuing to build her modeling career. “I’m still learning, absorbing everything I can from this experience. But no matter what, my education is my priority,” she says.
Alicia is deeply passionate about giving back to the Burundian youth. She believes that efforts need to be made for opportunities in the fashion and entertainment industries exist to be more accessible to those from Burundi. “I want to create a positive impact by helping to develop the fashion and beauty industry in my country,” she explains. “It’s time for Burundi to be on the map, and I’m ready to do my part in making that happen.”
One source of strength for Alicia, even during tough moments, is the unwavering support of her family. “They are always there for me, especially when things get hard. Their love and encouragement mean everything to me,” she says.
Alicia’s gratitude is endless for all the Burundians who vote for her and show their support during this competition. “It’s all about representing Burundi and putting my country on the map,” she says.
